DGC technology is based on achieving efficient mass transfer in gas-liquid mixing. The intense turbulence and shear at the interface results in efficient gas-liquid mixing.
DGC has been demonstrated for use in following applications:
-
Wastewater Treatment: - Treatment of wastewater containing non-biodegradable chemicals. Pilot studies were conducted on more than 40 industrial effluent streams. Up to 80% reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) was obtained. Pilot plant for one of our clients is being set up.
-
Gas Absorption: - DGC technology is used for upgradation of biogas through removal of Carbon Dioxide and Hydrogen Sulphide. The technology uses proprietary water-based solvent- ABSOLV. A 50 m3/hr capacity biogas upgradation unit has been set up at one of the biogas generation plants in Maharashtra and the upgradation process has been established for selective absorption & removal of CO2 and H2S.The regeneration & reusability of ABSOLV solvent has also been established. Fine-tuning of the complete process including regeneration & reusability of ABSOLV is underway. DGC can also be used for scrubbing of flue gas for CO2 removal, and for scrubbing & recovery of SO2 and Ammonia from gaseous stream/ wastewater stream.
-
Chemical Reactions: - DGC reactor has been demonstrated for use in gas-liquid reactions viz. hydrogenation & oxidation (using oxygen); as well as liquid-liquid reaction viz. biodiesel production. DGC reactor can be used for any gas-liquid reactions e.g. chlorination with chlorine, sulphonation using SO2 or SO3, ammonolysis using ammonia. The advantages include faster reaction time and rate, reduction in by-product formation and low waste generation. We are now setting up a commercial DGC reactor for one of our clients for SO2 based reaction.
In September 2019, DGC was awarded "Efficient Solution" label by Solar Impulse Foundation, World alliance; a Switzerlans based organization, under their #1000 solutions that can protect the environment in a profitable way, and bringing them to decision makers to help them adopt more ambitious environmental targets and energy policies.
